Red House Ranch Giveaway!

I am so happy to introduce to you an amazing artist and woman. Mary Jo Vick is the proprietress of Red House Ranch, a unique custom jewelry Company. I fell in love with her pieces from first site, and their quality is unmatched. I asked Mary Jo to be a guest on the blog today, and she happily obliged, and has also been generous enough to donate a giveaway, a $100 gift certificate to her online store!!! Please leave a comment below mentioning you would like to be entered, and on the 15th of September, I will randomly draw a winner.

Welcome Mary Jo!

“I am one of those crafter~type girls that loves to dabble in all kinds of crafts.  Plus I’ve got a touch of an entrepreneurial spirit.  I haven’t taken an art class since middle school… so, most of the time when something catches my attention, I just figure out how to make it myself.  I started making a type of jewelry with images using a stained glass technique.  I guess it was good timing because that business exploded.  In fact, it was so demanding that I got to a point that I wasn’t able to fulfill orders.  The process was extremely labor intensive and actually quite toxic with the chemicals involved and such.  So, I started trying to figure out how to design jewelry that I could easily reproduce.  And that lead me into carving wax designs and having them cast into sterling and pewter.

The first time I carved a piece of wax, I made my very favorite piece… which is a PUSH spur rowel.  I got the idea when I took a solo road trip on the back roads of the Texas Hill Country.  It seems like I always get my best ideas when I’m driving.  Love the freedom of the road, I suppose.

And it’s funny because I went to a wholesale jewelry supply company for the wax and other supplies.  The guy that helped me at the counter thought I had lost my mind… I asked for wax.  He wanted to know which color I wanted.  I explained that I had no idea that wax came in colors… he very politely suggested that I take a carving/jewelry making class.  So I asked for some of each color and explained that classes just weren’t my style.  And I went about my business.

I love collecting jewelry.  Important jewelry.  Pieces that have meaning.  I don’t really go for trendy pieces… maybe a little thrown in here and there for the bling factor.  But most of what I wear are pieces that are timeless.  And that’s the kind of vibe that I wanted to share.

And the other part is that I truly want to share a message of hope.  Maybe… just maybe… a piece of jewelry with an inspirational message will help remind someone at just the right time that there IS hope.

I am a FREE and COURAGEOUS woman whose mission is to provide HOPE to the HURTING!”

Thank you for that wonderful story and inspirational words Mary Jo!!

Enough Said

In Love with Country

Sittin’  in that six-lane backed up traffic
Horns are honking, I’ve about had it
I’m looking for an exit sign
Gotta get out of here, get it all off my mind
And like a memory from your grandpa’s attic
A song comes slippin’ through the radio static
Changing my mood
A little George Strait 1982

It makes me wanna take a back road
Makes me wanna take the long way home
Put a little gravel in my travel
Unwind, unravel all night long
Makes me wanna grab my honey
Tear down some two-lane country
Who knows
Get lost and get right with my soul

I’ve been cooked up, fried down, ’bout forgotten
What a field looks like, full of corn and cotton
If I’m gonna hit a traffic jam,
Well it better be a tractor man
So sick and tired of this interstate system
I need a curve and wide-a-twistin’
Dusty path to nowhere
With the wind blowing through my baby’s hair

Maybe it’s the feeling or maybe it’s the freedom
Maybe it’s that shady spot
Where we park the truck when the things get hot

Yeah, makes me wanna take a back road
Makes me wanna take the long way home
Put a little gravel in my travel
Unwind, unravel all night long
Makes me wanna grab my honey
Tear down some two-lane country
Who knows
Get lost and get right with my soul
Makes me wanna take a back road.

Maiden Voyage

This weekend was Audree’s maiden voyage! I caravaned down to the show with two friends, and our trailers couldn’t have been any cuter going down the road. I wish we had someone else following us in a car to take a photo of these cutie pies driving down the highway!

We set up camp once we arrived at the show. Our little trailer commune was so cute. I just adore Amy’s trailer Polka Dot Rosie and Mindy’s trailer Peggy Sue so much!

The Barnhouse Vintage Country Marketplace show this year was the best one yet. Everyone had such a festive and happy attitude, and there was lots of food, fun, finds and laughter!

Here are some of the highlights of the show…..

I was so excited to get to see my friend Krisitin of Faded Prairie. She and her husband are the nicest people. Her booth was so her! I just loved it.

I enjoyed talking to her so much! We have plans to get together again sometime and ride horses. If it is a 16 hour drive between us, I wonder how long it will take me to get there on my horse??

(Kristin and Me)

The rest of the show this year was just as amazing……

Can you guess who these cute legs belong to?

One of my favorite people in the world, Celeste of Chaps!

Empanadas. Nothing more to say.

Here is one of the men of the hour, Barnhouse Boy #1, aka, Joe!

The Barnhouse booth is always jaw dropping, and this year was no exception. It looked like you had stepped into a magazine…

Perfect quote to sum up the show.

Being the anglophile that I am , I was dying over this dresser. I SO wish I had somewhere to put it!! Genious!

The best part of these events for me are always the people.

I just love lisa and her sparkle……

And lara is so honest, geniune and fun. This is one of my favorite photos ever of her!

It was so hot that day that this little cutie pie couldn’t help but jump into this water trough to cool herself down. Everyone cheered when she did!

Hope you enjoyed the tour of the show!

xoxo, Tiffany
