I knew shy of winning a lotto jackpot, this was just not an option for me.

I decided that not having a studio was also not an option, and I went about finding a way to make my scaled down dream come true.

I took a good long look at my own home and what “real estate”  I could borrow from.  I obviously could not oust my children from their rooms, nor my husband. (although the way he has been snoring lately, that was actually my first thought

Like many typical american homes have, ours has a large bonus room that was a complete catchall for treadmills, unwanted Christmas decorations and clothes that simply did not fit. Right off our bonus room, many of you may remember that I had a small art studio. Since my bonus room has only 3 foot high knee walls, making it impossible to convert into a photography studio, I reclaimed it by emptying all the decorations, toys and such and moved all my art belongings into it, thus giving myself and my children and friends an even larger space to create in!

I then proceeded to take the once small art studio, or so I thought, and turn it into my photography home studio. Much to my happy surprise the room once emptied was much larger than I anticipated, and as furniture and knick knacks were removed, the natural light began to stream in, filling my heart to contentment!

Already adorned with a pretty chandelier, I didn’t need many more props to fill in.

Now I have a space to bring women to feel special and PRETTY……

My advice to you is instead of pining over what you cannot have, find a version of your dream YOU CAN ACHIEVE.

In the long run, I promise you will find your happy

 A few weeks back I celebrated my 39th (and last) birthday. My very dear, talented and generous friend Terri Brush and I came up with an idea to celebrate called Cowgirl Campout!

We invited some of our friends and Terri hosted the most amazing weekend of crafting and friendship. I camped out at her house in style, me and Audree and the truck packed up our gear and headed down I-5 to Terri’s.

 I stopped at the rest area to pee (bigtime coffee drinker from seattle, remember?) and parked next to this. I couldnt resist taking a photo of the two side by side!! Something else funny happened at the rest stop

 (isnt this how all good stories start????)

A man walked up to me and asked me if I bought my truck from a guy named Myron. The answer is yes! I was over 150 miles from where I purchased the truck, but ran into Myron’s neighbor none the less! He recognized the truck right away. Such a small world!

Anyway, I arrived and was amazed and shocked when I saw all the trouble terri had gone to! She had her entire back lawn decorated to the nines with vintage sofas, floral arrangements, a huge pink tent, photobooth and much much more for the festivities!! It was so adorable I almost fainted!

 Cowgirls started to arrive one by one, ready to hoedown and craft. They brought jacked up 4×4′s, and horse trailers turned hotel, it was so fun!!

 I even dressed up Audree inside and out for the party!

 As the sun set and the party got into full swing, there was a huge surprise. Girls started screaming and clapping and out came this!!! Can you believe it?????

Ok and as if that wasn’t enough, the next day our art classes were absolutlely phenominal. We made belt buckles, enameled necklaces and more. Here is a snippet of my buckles and a necklace I made.

 I always love to take the road less travelled. It is a way of life for me. It can be interpreted in so many different aspects and it has not failed me yet. On a recent diversion from the highway I stumbled upon the most inspirational scene. In the middle of a town no bigger than a postage stamp, in the middle of nowhere on the way to nothing was this unbelievable church. The brush had overtaken most of it, but the sun drew me in as it shone through the busted out sanctuary windows.

 I didn’t fear being caught as I trampled down grass waist high to come closer to the abandoned chapel. I knew I must see inside. Small and simple from the exterior, the interior was vast and I stood in awe of the breathtakingly tall ceilings and windows.

All I could think of was resurrecting this once majestic building, to revel in its beauty, but I knew I must continue on my travels, leaving only the lovely visit in my memory.

It is unexpected journeys like this that make all the hard work and effort of taking the road less travelled worthwhile.
