I love the fridge! Years ago my husband and I were driving the back roads and on our way home decided to stop at the dumpsters provided in rural areas in our “neck of the woods”. There sitting along side the dumpster was this little beauty of a fridge, probably 1945 vintage. There was a large piece of cardboard carefully covering the top of it. I walked over and opened the door and there was a note, written by someone whose hand was old and shakey. The note (committed to memory now) said, “If you decide to keep this little fridge, let it stand upright for 24 hours before you plug it in. It runs beautifully.” coley - January 21, 2011 - 6:52 pm

I had to come back and read this again!!1 So insp iration and it made me laugh…which I really needed. I’m generally a very happy person. However, my weight has really gotten out of control especially this past year.. so much so that my father has started making comments. Even certain foods that I ate all the time were starting to make me feel bad. So yesterday I was crying to my father and decided then and there “No more bad food” No more food with ingredients that aren’t fit to be consumed…so I’m making changes this year p.s. I really like Jordan Rubin’s books…especially The Maker’s Diet. He’s into organic eating…so I’m going to try and eat really healthy this year and exercise, of course Ya~Ya - January 9, 2011 - 2:51 pm

What a great post. I to am working on losing 20 – 25 pounds. My friend who is a nutritionist gave me a couple of hints to help me succeed that I will pass along to you. You need to look at food like nutrition and fuel for your body. Not just something to fill you up for the moment. And sugar is sugar whether it is aspartame, or real sugar your body treats it the same way. We get fat from diet foods. I hope this helps you to continue achieving your weight loss success. Hi Tiffany, I think I began my weight loss efforts in earnest in May or June. I used a combination of smaller servings of food, very few snacks (stuck in a general way to the “no S” diet) and a LOT of hard exercise. I’d guess I exercise about 40 m – 1 hr 4 or 5 days a week. I can run again. At 44 I think I have more energy than I did through my 30′s. Thank you so much Tiffany, for your inspiration and encouragement. Y’all look great & 25 yrs younger! What a great inspiration! My husband & I are on the same road. He for medical reasons, me because I have been skinny far longer than I have been heavy. Yes, my scale reads like yours. At 5’10″ my goal is to drop down at least 45 lbs. Hubby has lost 14 lbs. so far just by me changing our diet. I have gone down 1 pant size but already feels better. Congrats to you and your husband for getting fit and healthy. Last year I took my sister’s advice and I joined Weight Watchers (love it…I could never live without having chocolate & other goodies), got walking and lost 40 lbs in 6 mos. and happy to report I am at 129 lbs. – which is in the range for my 5’5″ frame. I had always been skinny all my life, knew all about good nutrition, but having a special needs kid is when my weight started creeping up & up & when you are taking care of everyone else you get put on the back burner…not anymore! wow – thanks so much for sharing. I have been oeve weight since I had my daughter – 8 years ago. I have 2 more children since then and well I just seem to have gotten bigger. I am only 5’3 and weigh 30 pounds over what I should. The worst part is that it happily sits in my mid-section. Not just my wasit but my back and butt. I know what I need to do but like you said to make a yummy meal for family and one not so tasty but good for you meal for yourself is HARD. I started thsi year working out – tomorrow will be my 3rd day in a row…I hate going to the gym. I hate looking at myself in the mirror – I hate sweating and like you I have tried all the diets. Have every book and allthe dvd’sand all the gadgets…ugh…I agree it is totally a mind set…there fore I must change that mind set – we are going to Hawaii for Christmas this year so I desperately need to lose the weight. Oh I cried reading this…it is so me! I had lost 45 pounds kept it off over 2 years then holy cow I swear I swallowed a cow. I want to do something fast since I have a few events coming up and I think I can do this your way…heck I did it before…I have gym membership I like walking and the treadmill when weather is bad will work. My story is the same as yours except that it has been 2 1/2 years and the weight is still off. I wasn’t on a diet, I changed my diet. Over Christmas I indulged in my homemade caramels and fudge, but skiing everyday helped work it off. Carol Ryan - January 2, 2010 - 5:27 am
I don’t know when I’ve read a more encouraging and inspirational story. Your photos are wonderful, to be sure, but knowing your inside story is even better–to know that you really loved and craved food. Holy Cow!!!! That’s fantastic!!! I had lost 112 lbs two years ago, but I’m embarrased to say put back on a lot! I’ve already informed hubby that in 2010, if he wants fat, calories and carbs, then eat a good lunch at work! LOL This year will see a leaner/healthier household. I had to leave a comment. Wowwwwww!!! You and your hubby look amazing. I agree with you 100%. I made the same decision 3 years ago. I lost 50 pounds. You are right, it is work. Have to set your mind to it. People ask me if I took some magic pill. I tell them you need to eat right, excercise and commit. Then I get the, “Oh, that is too much work”. Well, it is, but well worth it. I have been able to keep it off. I workout at home, pop in a DVD and get to work. I am very proud of you. By the way, I am 41 and feel great. I can wear skinny jeans. I could have written a very similar post! I actually gained 60 lbs. and maxed out at 194 with each of my pregnancies. After my second child, I was determined to lose every last pound and got back down to 133 lbs. in 5 months. From size 16 to 6 just like you. I, on the other hand, couldn’t give everything up. wonderful photos Tiffany – just as you predicted, I LOVE THEM! okay, here’s my take on what is going on: My name is Elsie and my job calls for me to be creative and intuitive. I’ve been watching my latest mark over the last few weeks and finally figured out a way to finish out my latest paying gig. See he works for the railroad company repairing the tracks, testing RR crossing signs, etc. I’ve been studying his schedule and knew he’d be been in this area today. While bidding my time, I took self portraits on the tracks until I saw his truck approaching (yeah , I do stuff like that). Quickly I donned the heavy chains to complete my damsel in distress act. I saw him approaching with alarm in his eyes. Are you alright, miss? He reached down to remove the chains when I sprang into action and delivered my line: “by the state of Washington, consider yourself served with this subpoena”. I dusted myself off and walk away. This is my first time to ever visit with a comment but I just want to tell you that even though your model is just stunning and indeed her husband will be asking you to get posters made for every man in the barracks, you are an incredibly talented photographer. Your staging with the props for these photos and the feel of a girl waiting for her loving man gone of to war is just incredible.
