Brownie Points – Part Two

Meet Audree. She is the wonderful mother’s day gift I received this year, earning my husband bunches of brownie points!!! She is a rare 1959 Fireball trailer, all original and waiting to be loved. And love her I do!!

This is one of those hole in the head things, that you can justify all day long by telling yourself it will be great for company, those quick trips on the weekends etc, etc. But the fact of the matter is, I really don’t care, I love her!!!

Audree got her name because I envision her as a kind of modern Breakfast at Tiffany’s hip pad, Audrey Hepburn Style, where I can have my friends over and pretend we are cool. My teenage daughter of course thinks I am bonkers, she really doesn’t get it, but then I caught her and her friends hanging out in it this past Friday night, so I guess it’s cooler than she’ll admit!

This is what she looks like now. I have added a few decor items just to spruce her up, whilst I sit inside and contemplate her next move.

Here is a mood board of some pics I have gathered off the internet with the way I want to decorate her. I already bought the pillow and pom poms, and am going to have her seats reupholstered in white tufted vinyl. The color scheme will be a teal/aqua, hot and pale pink, with accents of white and a hint of black. She she will be a cool chick pad, I thought a disco ball might be more apropos this go around versus a chandelier!

I am also thinking I might wallpaper her interior rather than paint over the beige, using the same paper I used in my office makeover.

What do you think?

I would love any decor input you are willing to send me, I am open to ideas. Email photos, or color schemes, ideas you may have, I would love to hear them!! Hopefully I will have some before and afters for you soon…..

xoxo, Tiffany

I just inherited Vivan, a 15′ 1959 Fireball, from my 91 year old aunt. She is all original, just in need of some basic upholstery. We have the same exact table and counter tops!! Thanks for posting these fabulous photos, they have given me some great ideas…I can’t wait for what might be in store for my Vivian!

I knew BEFORE I even read the whole post…..U r the proud owner of a Fireball!!!!!! They r rare…..and the stripe is a DEAD give~away. I would suggest…even of u repaint…..KEEP THE STRIPE!!!!!

I have a 1961 Fireball with the original metal scrolls in front….They have plenty of room inside and the BEST windows ever. I have had mine for a few years….and EVERY time I think…maybe I should sell her…I see someones trailer.

I have went through a lot with her(still….no name)I have had her painted twice because on our first VINTAGE rally trip….her door blew off on the way home…..it cost more to fix her then we bought her for and we had just painted her!!!!!

I m sure u r going to do an amazing job decorating Audree and u will have so much fun with her……CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!

Oh my goodness. How absolutely exciting for you! I can’t even imagine how much fun you will have getting Aubrey ready. : ) She totally fits that name! I love that wallpaper. Pure deliciousness!

Tricia Samsal - May 26, 2011 - 6:57 am

Absolutely adore the trailer. Take a look at the one I fixed up, similar style and layout inside to yours. They truly are a little gem, and everytime I take mine to a show people ask if I am selling it, and I say “I love it so much I’ll probably be buried with it!”. Love, love, love them, all the cute little trailers out there. COngrats, and have a ball primping her up!
PS.the pics I have are on a photo album on my sidebar called the Bliss Lounge. I wanted to have a vintage-retro-pin up girl-loungy style.

I received “Bessie” this year for my 52 birthday! I too felt just the way you do! Don’t need it, but have to have it! Nobody gets it, from the man I bought it from to the woman at the secretary of state office. The paint store and my friends just can’t see what I see in the old vintage trailer. But like you, this is my girl fort and I can not wait to gussie her up with all the idea’s that are floating around in my head. Can’t wait to see Audree finished will keep watching for updates.
I’ve been waiting for my Bessie for 20 years now, long overdue!

Lisa - May 25, 2011 - 7:59 am

I would say he was good for another 20 years. Absolutely adorable.

Heidi Woodruff - May 24, 2011 - 11:39 am

Aweseome, Tiffany! You are going to have SO much fun! Imagine this parked outside your photo shots as you travel the country-side, filling it jam-packed with goodies all the while! Yay for your brownie points earned and spent!

OMG!!! This is so fantastic!! Love the aqua stove!! It’s in amazing condition! What a wonderful husband! My father in law has a trailer that is slightly smaller than this he calls his “mouse house” it has a lot of similar features. I’ve always wanted to get it and re-do, which my husband thinks is just a bit crazy!

Zita - Mlle Magpie - May 24, 2011 - 3:56 am

OMG, Audree is totally amazing!!! She is particularly incredibly fabulous and I can’t wait to see more of her!. Tifanny, I think your husband was just waiting for all these years for a big blow-out year for you!!!

debi - May 24, 2011 - 1:22 am

Oh my gosh!!! I just about swooned right off my chair!
I think as far as gifts and romance goes….your husband is good for life! She’s absolutely gorgeous and I’m totally green.

Girl, that was worth waiting eighteen years for!

Cindy Holshouser - May 23, 2011 - 10:31 pm

A-DOR-A-BLE! And she even has a pink stripe on the outside. I am picturing a pink hook somwhere inside where you will hang your Fancy Farm Girl apron:) Is she going to make the trip to Spokane? Can’t wait to see your ‘after’ photos. XOXO

Annie - May 23, 2011 - 8:49 pm

I absolutely love the colors. Aren’t trailers just like hot fudge sundaes for our tummies?? I have some pics of my trailer on my blog- maybe you can take a peek.

Natasha Burns - May 23, 2011 - 6:50 pm

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!
I can’t WAIT to meet Audrey and spend time there! Leroy is going to FLIP! Go the wallpaper, YES!

Charlene - May 23, 2011 - 3:36 pm

Tiffany,

How funny that I happened upon this post. Check mine out for a few chuckles. I show 2 of my friends cute vintage trailers! I have to do another post of her daughters cutie too. HAVE FUN decorating this little gem. We just bought a 5th wheel RV so we can travel to get away from the horrible Texas HEAT! I can’t deck it out like I would IF I had one like yours but, I’m having a blast doing some decorating. Hope you like LaVernes 2 trailers if you visit.

I loved seeing all the photos from Petticoats & Parasols in the new Where Women Create Magazine. Your photos were divine! And I can’t believe how long ago it was since we were all out there together. HUGS!

I literally squealed! I am SO beyond jealous of Audree! She is a beautiful girl!

I cannot wait to see more photos of her…could you post more of what she looks like now? I am just absolutely in love with travel trailers, and this one actually made me palpitate a little!

Bernadette Gibson - May 23, 2011 - 1:30 pm

I just love her!!! I thought I wanted a silver stream line, now I don’t know. Your color combination is perfect! Can’t wait to see the after pictures. Audrey would have a chandelier, but a disco ball would look great!

Momma Mindy - May 23, 2011 - 1:01 pm

Happy for you….but just a teeny-weeny jealous. OK, I’m HUGELY jealous! :)

Maybe your husband could write a guest blog on How To Earn Brownie Points With Your Wife! :)

No input, I think whatever you do is amazing!

Congrats!

Sue Hetherington - May 23, 2011 - 12:55 pm

Tiffany,

I am so totally jealous, and yet, so totally thrilled for you. I have been searching high and low for a vintage trailer quite like Audrey, however, here in Canada vintage trailers are hard to find. I think most people back in the 40′s, 50′s and 60′s went to the lake cabins and cottages up here. Looks like I may have to venture down to the States to find me a precious piece of the past that I can doll up too ; )
Love you Audrey…she is so “pretty”!

jAne - May 23, 2011 - 12:16 pm

she’s **beautiful** and such a thoughtful mother’s day gift!!!
i have **TWO** vintage trailers. a big girl my husband and i can glamp (glamour camp) and a tiny little sweetheart just for me. my tiny girlie has her own blog – - just started it:
http://edelweiss-haus.blogspot.com

check out sistersonthefly.com too. i’m sister #1818. you don’t have to fly fish to be a sister. will also be starting up my own glamping group .. soon.

congrats! and wElcOmE to the world of vintage travel trailers!!!!!

Heather at FarmgirlGourmet - May 23, 2011 - 12:03 pm

ADORABLE Tiffany! As another trailer-lover, I can totally relate. I look at mine sitting in the precious garage real estate and think I should get rid of her to make room, then I snap out of my crazy moment and go back to loving the heck out of that darn hunk-a-tin. Yours is adorable and sooooo YOU! Are you bringing her to Farm Chicks? We’re all camping down by the river again this year with our “girls”. I hope to see you there or at the very least at FC.

Heather
